Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) cricketer Rahul Tripathi took an excellent tumbling catch near the boundary to get rid of Abhinav Manohar of Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 21st match of the IPL 2022 after Manohar had gotten more lives than a cat due to multiple drops catches.
SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to field first. Both GT and SRH went in unchanged and the match saw some terrific action at the very start.
On the second ball of 3rd over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shubman Gill, fresh off his highest IPL score of 96, played a fine drive towards cover. However, Rahul Tripathi, who was stationed there, dove high in the air and plucked the ball out of nowhere in one hand to complete an astonishing catch.
Then Matthew Wade for 19 and Sai Sudharshan for 11 fell in quick succession leaving GT 80/3 in 10 overs. However, Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar took the team to a decent final total in 20 overs. David Miller also made 12 runs.
SRH Drop Abhinav Manohar Multiple Times; But Finally Rahul Tripathi Holds Onto One
Abhinav Manohar played a whirlwind knock of 35 in 21 balls with 5 fours and 1 six, while Hardik Pandya made 50 in 42 balls with 4 fours and 1 six, as Gujarat Titans managed to make 162/7 in 20 overs.
Manohar was in dangerous form, but the SRH fielders just couldn’t manage to catch him as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi all dropped him once atleast. Finally, Tripathi redeemed himself as he took a tumbling catch near the boundary, off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 2/37 and T Natarajan with 2/34 were the pick of the bowlers.
