Rajasthan Royals are playing a must-win game against Lucknow Super Giants here at the Brabourne Stadium as they are looking for a place in the playoffs.
Although Rajasthan Royals are 3rd on the points table, the other teams are not far behind in terms of points. RR are on 14 points from 12 games and a win here would give them a realistic chance of finishing in the top 4.
Rajasthan Royals Scores 178 Runs In The First Innings
Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first in an all-important game. Jos Buttler got out early as Avesh Khan cleaned him up.
Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal then added runs at a great pace as RR raced to 90 runs from 10 overs with just 2 down.
Devdutt Padikkal played a crucial cameo in the middle as he scored 39 runs off 18 balls.
But then RR lost wickets at regular intervals in the slog overs and that stalled their progress. In the 18th over, Riyan Parag tried to went after Ravi Bishnoi but was caught at the boundary courtesy of a brilliant catch by Marcus Stoinis.
In the same over, James Neesham got run out. It was a bad mix up between Ravichandran Ashwin and Neesham. Ashwin hit the ball on the offside and Neesham just ran towards the striker’s end. Neesham was almost there at the striker’s end while Ashwin was watching the ball. In the end, Ashwin tried to cross Neesham to sacrifice his wicket but it was too late as a brilliant throw from KL Rahul helped Ravi Bishnoi effect the run-out quickly. Neesham managed just 14 runs off 12 balls in his comeback game.
In the end, RR posted 178 on the board as Trent Boult scored 17 off 9 balls in the end.
