Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg believes Tim David, who is known for his powerful hitting, should be a sure starter in the reigning champions’ playing XI for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
In T20 leagues around the world, as well as for Singapore in international cricket, the 26-year-old has demonstrated his abilities. With the bat, he had a huge effect on the IPL 2022 season. Despite this, Tim David was left out of Australia’s T20I team for the series against Sri Lanka.
Tim David Is The Best Number 6 In The World Currently: Brad Hogg
“You bring Smith up from the lower order and open the batting with him. Stoinis comes up at No.5 and Tim David comes in at No.6. Tim David, for me around the globe, is the best No.6 that you can have. He is the only player that consistently comes in in the final four overs and finds the boundary straightaway. It is a unique talent to have and Australia has got to utilize it.”
Brad Hogg also discussed Cricket Australia’s dubious rule that prevents David from being included in the T20I team. He continued, “The other issue, Australia have a rule that if you’re not contracted with a first-class state team to represent Australia in T20Is. He doesn’t have that contract. Australia has got to change that rule. You can’t have a rule as stupid as that, keeping a player like him out.”
It would be intriguing to see if Cricket Australia can provide David with a contract a stateside or if they can tweak their requirements to accommodate him in the Australian T20 World Cup squad.
Despite captaining Australia to the 2021 T20 World Cup, Brad Hogg believes Aaron Finch is in serious risk of missing the main event later this year. The Australian white-ball captain’s batsmanship has been abysmal, and all eyes will be on him when he takes on Sri Lanka.
