Rishabh Pant-led India National Cricket Team lost the first T20I of the five-match T20I series by 7 wickets against the Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, June 9.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant also made good contributions and in the end, Hardik Pandya scored brilliant 31 runs off 12 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes to help India score 211/4.
Chasing the target, South Africa lost Temba Bavuma early on in the innings but Dwaine Pretorius played a cameo knock to help South Africa properly utilise the powerplay.
In the end, David Miller played a remarkable knock and Rassie van der Dussen played a stunning knock to help South Africa win the match.
We had enough on the board – Rishabh Pant
Speaking after the match, Rishabh Pant said that they had put enough runs on the board but the bowling execution was not good enough to defend the huge total.
He further lauded David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen for their brilliant performances to help South Africa win over India. He also said that the wicket got better for batting in the second innings. Rishabh Pant elaborated:
“We had enough on the board, but I think we were a little off with the execution. But sometimes you got to give credit to the opposition.
“Miller and RvD batted brilliantly. Slower balls were working when we batted, but the wicket got better in the second innings.
“Mostly we executed our plans (to Miller) but the wicket got better and better. We were very happy with the total but next time we are in a similar situation we will do better.”
