Sri Lanka National Cricket Team bowling all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne, who is a right-handed batter and a right-arm medium-pacer, has revealed that he thinks like a batter while bowling.
Chamika Karunaratne played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s 26-run victory over Australia National Cricket Team in the second ODI of the five-match ODI series at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on June 16.
He scored 18 runs off 17 balls, including one six, while batting, and then he bagged 3 wickets, including the wickets of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Swepson. Also, he won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance.
I was waiting for this moment for a long time – Chamika Karunaratne
Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Chamika Karunaratne said that he was waiting to give his best for Sri Lanka for a very long time.
“I was waiting for this moment for a long time. I knew I could do more for the team and my 100% has come today. Malinga and our Head Coach are fast bowlers, and they were giving inputs. I think as a batsman while bowling,” he said while speaking during the post-match presentation.
He further talked about his celebration in the match. Sri Lanka bowling all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne asserted:
“I look to bluff sometimes and it is nice when it comes off. My celebration is for the universe. My Test debut was in Australia and I got injured. I came back after two and a half years and that is why my celebration is for the universe.”
Speaking of the match, Australia got the target of 216 runs to chase from 43 overs after rain interrupted Sri Lanka’s first innings.
All the Australian batters made decent contributions but no one was able to play a big knock and Australia got bundled out for 189. Now the five-match series is levelled at 1-1.
