Ranji Trophy 2022: Yashasvi Jaiswal Enters Elite List After Twin Centuries In Semi-Final, Says ‘Honoured to See My Name With Legends’
Yashasvi Jaiswal entered the elite list of Mumbai players who have slammed centuries in both the innings of a Ranji Trophy match. During the semi-final match against Uttar Pradesh, the left-handed batsman slammed centuries in both the innings to help his team win the match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also said that he is happy to see his name with legends like Sachin Tendulkar and others. Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Jaffer, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane bagged this achievement while playing for Mumbai. Jaiswal slammed 100 and 181 in both innings to win the man of the match award.

Happy To See My Name With Legends: Yashasvi Jaiswal
While speaking to the Times of India, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he was unaware of his record and came to know when his teammates informed him in the dressing room. He also said that he was happy to see his name with legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma.
“I wasn’t aware of this record. When I returned to the dressing room, my teammates told me about this. I am honoured to see my name with legends like Sachin sir, Wasim sir, Rohit and Ajinkya,” Jaiswal said.
Jaiswal, who plays for Rajasthan Royals in IPL, revealed how he planned to execute his batting in the match.
“I studied the wicket and realised that it was slow. When Prithvi got out, I discussed the plan with Armaan Jaffer. I wanted to give myself time at the crease because I wanted to stay in the middle for as long as possible. This was my plan. I know it took me a lot of balls to get off the mark, but once I was settled, I started accelerating,” Jaiswal told Times of India.

In the Mumbai vs Uttar Pradesh semi-final match, Mumbai slammed 393-10 in the 1st innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting 100 and Hardik Tamore scoring 115. With a 48 by Shivam Mavi, Uttar Pradesh replied with 180 all-out. Later, Mumbai posted 533-4 (d) with Jaiswal’s 181 and Armaan Jaffer’s 127.
As a result, Mumbai also reached the final. In the Ranji Trophy 2022 final, Mumbai will lock horns with Madhya Pradesh. The match commences on June 22 and the venue of the encounter is M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
