Thatcher’s Techbase. (Doom Daddy Digital)
A new game is on the way that lets you shoot Margaret Thatcher in the face, and no, we’re not kidding.
Thatcher’s Techbase is a mod for the original DOOM that lets you shoot enemy demons with oversized weapons.
It takes place in the “tenth circle of Hell” – the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, naturally.
News of the game was shared on Twitter, complete with a video of gameplay.
On September 24th, Margaret Thatcher will rise from her grave. Only you can send her back to Hell.

“The dead speak!” warns the game introduction. “The world has heard a mysterious broadcast, a threat of revenge in the sinister voice of the late Baroness Margaret Thatcher.”
Travelling to the tenth circle of Hell, players will investigate the “underworld fortress known as Thatcher’s Techbase”.
It’s an underworld filled with union jack flags, hordes of demons, “keep calm, carry on” signs, and other British iconography.
Let’s just say it’s not exactly subtle.
But then, neither was the original DOOM with its loud metal soundtrack and over the top gore.
Margaret Thatcher’s government was, of course, responsible for bringing in the series of laws known as Section 28, which prohibited the “promotion of homosexuality” by local authorities – including in schools – and in turn caused many LGBT+ support groups to close or censor themselves. All of which is pretty demonic, in our opinion.
Thatcher’s Techbase includes five levels of difficulty, co-op and deathmatch support, and an original soundtrack.
If anything, it’s akin to Wolfenstein 3D: the classic first person shooter that pre-dates DOOM and had players infiltrating a Nazi base to kill Hitler.
It’s clear from the parallels how developer Doom Daddy Digital feels about Thatcher and the Conservative party.
Thatcher’s Techbase is released on 24 September and available on PC, Mac and Linux for free.
