It was an important game for Sunrisers Hyderabad. They lost their first couple of games in IPL 2022 but then bounced back to win 5 on the trot. They came into the game with 4 straight losses. They needed to win this to stay in the competition. They did just that but by a whisker as they overcame Mumbai Indians Challenge by just 3 runs.
After having been put to bat first, Abhishek Sharma got out early, but then Rahul Tripathi and Priyam Garg added 78 runs in no time. But then a fine caught and bowled ended Garg’s innings.
Nicholas Pooran then came all guns blazing as he targeted the short side of the boundary. He scored 39 off 22 balls and was involved in 50+ partnerships with Tripathi. But Pooran got out to a brilliant catch by Mayank Markande. Tripathi scored 76 off 44 balls and helped his side put 193 runs on the board.
Ramandeep Singh was the best bowler for Mumbai Indians as he picked up 3 wickets for just 20 runs in his 3 overs.
MI had a terrific start to their chase, as Rohit and Ishan Kishan added 95 runs for the opening wicket. But then Umran Malik picked up 3 quick wickets which put MI on the backfoot. Tim David then scored 46 runs off just 18 balls and brought MI right back into the game. But he got run-out on the last ball of the 18th over which again changed the game in the favour of SRH. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then bowled a wicket maiden, which eventually was the difference as SRH won the game by just 3 runs.
