Leeds United legend and League Cup hero Terry Cooper has sadly passed away aged 77.

Cooper spent a highly successful 13 years at Elland Road, and was an integral member of the great Don Revie side.

A statement on the official Leeds United website read:

“Leeds United are devastated to learn of the passing of Terry Cooper at the age of 77.

“A club legend, Cooper amassed 351 appearances for the Whites, scoring 11 goals, during the Leeds’ most successful era to date.

“The thoughts of everyone at Leeds United are with Terry’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Rest in peace, Terry.”

Cooper will be best remembered for scoring the decisive goal in the 1968 League Cup final against Arsenal at Wembley.

His goal secured Leeds United’s first major trophy in their history, before the dominance under Revie continued.
