While promoting their new ET project, Demi said: “I really think that if there was anything out there that would want to do that to us, it would have happened by now. But, I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything.”

The 29-year-old singer continued: “That’s why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that’s a little tidbit. A little information that I learned.”

Shortly after Demi made the claims, fans rushed to Twitter to slam the singer- who uses they/them pronouns- for the bizarre interview.

One person wrote: “Wanna know how stupid people are in the year 2021? #DemiLovato says ‘alien’ is a derogatory term for extra terrestrials… Welcome 2021, where you can literally be offended by anything & you are applauded for it”

Another asked why Demi “is like this,” as another added that they “lost their damn mind.”

DEMI’S MARTIAN MISSION

Demi is currently promoting their new Peacock special called Unidentified, which will follow the singer and their friends as they go looking for proof of Martians.

In the trailer, the group seems to find evidence of “unexplained and unidentified” lives as the singer hints they might “already be here waiting for us to reach out.”

NEW PRONOUNS

The singer’s new special comes after they came out as non-binary in May 2021.

Shortly after revealing their new pronouns, the singer further opened up about the transition in a personal social media post.

While addressing their fans, Demi wrote in a text post: “If you misgender me, that’s okay.

“I accidentally misgender myself sometimes! It’s a huge transition to change the pronouns I’ve used for myself my entire life. And it’s difficult to remember sometimes!”

‘GRATEFUL FOR YOUR EFFORT’

Demi continued: “As long as you keep trying to respect my truth and as long as I remember my truth, the shift will come naturally.

“I’m just grateful for your effort in trying to remember what means so much to my healing process.”

In addition to the text post, the Skyscraper singer wrote in the caption: “I felt the need to post this because I often find that the change in pronouns can be confusing for some, and difficult to remember for others.

“It’s all about your intention. It’s important to me that you try, but if you make a mistake, it’s okay.”

They concluded: “Remember that I love you, and to keep going.”
